Auchencairn House

Surrounded by mature policy gardens and overlooking the Solway Firth, Auchencairn House is home to the Gilroy’s who farm commercial beef cattle and sheep on the surrounding 450 acres. The house is the family home of Piet and Sue Gilroy and reflects all the charm of its hosts in its character, infamous ‘doors open’ policy and unfailingly friendly welcome.

The House

Auchencairn house can accommodate four couples or four/six single guests. The house has been gradually restored over the years and offers a distinctive experience to all.

The Area

The picturesque village of Auchencairn is situated on the Solway Estuary coastline in a National Scenic Area in stunning Dumfries and Galloway.

The Farm

Piet and Sue Gilroy run a herd of 140 beef suckler cows, and a flock of 300 black-faced ewes and 100 black face X mule ewes on the land surrounding the house.
