Auchencairn House & Gardens

A house which exudes charm and character, and is renowned for its ‘doors open’ policy and unfailingly friendly welcome.

Auchencairn House is a private family home, but is available on request for bespoke residential weekends and events for small parties, so please do call us if you would like to visit.

Holiday cottages

There is currently one self catering property available for holidays and short stays, and this is the Tower Lodge, a Victorian Gatelodge, situated at the entrance of the front drive to the main house.

Tower Lodge

Tower Lodge sleeps four people, and has unrivalled views of the Solway Firth, as well as access to the beach just below the house.

About Us

Piet and Sue brought up three daughters, Zoe, Poppy and Evie, at Auchencairn House, and now live there with four dogs (one working collie, and three lurchers), while the stables are home to their four horses, and a gaggle of free range chickens and guinea fowl.

Poppy, Sue and Piet’s middle daughter and her husband Henry and their three children, Matilda, Angus and Scarlett live in the old dairy house on the farm. Poppy is a part time surveyor while Henry owns an Arts and Antiques business:

Auchencairn House is not open to the public, it is a private home, and the decision to run bespoke events and one-off holidays for small parties, has taken some years to make. The predictable experience, which can characterise a stay in a hotel is no where to be seen, but instead there is character and humour, and adventure if you are looking for it. A visit to Auchencairn House will provide a heart warming and unforgettably unique experience.
